I don’t want to be THAT girl. But just let me be for a moment.
I’m getting older (26 going on 27,) and it’s getting harder to find clothes that are fashionable, trendy, affordable, and actually look good on me. It’s like my hips are broadening… ready to brood children. Gross.
Here’s some stuff to check out! (Clicking on the image will bring you to Target’s website to purchase. Or head to your local Target.)
Got this dress for summer. It’s really adjustable so you can form it to highlight the points you like and hide the points you hate.
Pairing the above dress with this necklace… but in ORANGE. Statement necklace FTW! A nice pop of color.
$10, or $6 on sale!
Fun and bright tees, and I paired it with some bright shorts too. See below
These are Women’s shorts so they actually fit me! I tried the Juniors shorts and my ass cheeks were hanging out. These shorts are a very nice material and appropriate length- so they’d be great for both work and play. I had to get these in one size up.
$27.99, I found these on clearance for $13.98
These are actually a BRIGHT NEON pink in person. They’re amazing. These are my going-out pants. Wearing with the top below…
This top is super soft and comfy. Perfect for a cute outfit for a summer night.
I totally revamped my facial cleansing/hydrating/anti-aging routine. Here’s what I’ve been using for a few weeks and my initial thoughts:
Available at drugstores (for those who live an inexpensive wealthy lifestyle.)
RoC Hexinol Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Daily Moisturizer ~$28
I used to use a daily moisturizer from Roc and LOVED it… and then they discontinued it. Switched to Aveeno… it kind of did its job. My skin just started looking dull and I started noticing more wrinkles and discoloration- so I went back to Roc. So far so good, but nothing dramatic.
RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream ~$20
I started using this in a concentrated area around my eyes– and it was too irritating, so I started using it all over my face and neck and it’s much better. This stuff is definitely potent- it burns a little. I hope that means it’s working. Reviews online are mixed. One thing I do notice is that when I wake up in the morning my skin is soft, smooth, and more resilient.
Neutrogena® Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser ~$7
I LOVE this stuff. It smells like a really fantastic shampoo— if that makes any sense. It’s fresh and it actually takes off all of my make up without any scrubbing. Only downside is there is no anti-aging component- but I guess I don’t need it for something that’s only touching my skin for a minute and then being rinsed off.
Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer ~$8
Been using this for about a month. It feels like you’re rubbing silicone on your face, setting the ultimate canvas for your makeup. It helps my makeup last, but as far as the claims of it improving skin– I’m not too sure.
I will post updates on these products in a few months.
Hi. So it’s been…. over a year. let’s jump back in, shall we?
Here are some make up faves from the last month:
Just Bitten Kissable
Balm Stain ~ $7
I have such a difficult time finding lip products that work for me. I didn’t use them for years so it’s hard for me to get used to the maintenance and feeling of lipstick and glosses. This is by far the most comfortable wearing lip product I’ve ever tried (besides chapstick.) It leaves a nice shine and really does stain. I recommend shades “Smitten” and “Honey”– beautiful on all skin tones. (Currently Buy One Get One 50% off at CVS)
READY Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 ~ $29
I used the original loose powder foundation for YEARS, and then realized I needed more coverage, so I switched to liquid foundation (MUFE.) Then I wanted less, so I went to Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. My cheap NYC powder wasn’t cutting it to set my makeup, so I decided to go with this. I can already tell a difference in my skin’s tone and texture.
The downside- You have to get color matched. The powder in the pan looks deceiving. I ended up with Fairly Medium and I’m a ghost. It’s also a little messy– so I’d try to use this with a flat-top brush. I bought the flawless face brush, but oh well.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pen ~ $21
Long-wearing brow tint
LOVE! I sweat a lot. So pencils and powders just disappear from my brows. This stuff lassstttts and looks natural. I set it with powder just to be extra safe. Interested to see how long this tube lasts me.
Jewel-tones are a simple, yet bold way to get noticed. They look flattering on anyone, no matter what your hair/skin color may be. Check out these dresses, all under $35! Clicking on the image will bring you to the site to buy.
LuLus, Status Lattice Black and Burgundy Dress $24
LuLus, Fashion Week Indigo Purple Dress $33
LuLus, Surprise Surprise Teal Dress $25
LuLus, Sweet Talker Red Dress $26
Today I have a review for you on 2 different mascaras by Maybelline. I was looking to shy away from my normal routine CoverGirl LashBlast and see what else was out there. (Click on picture to purchase.)
1.) Maybelline Great Lash: Lots of Lashes ~$5-$6
I found this to be a great lengthening mascara. However, I was looking specifically for volume. It does flake, and it can be very noticeable. I would not recommend unless on sale for a great deal, and as a back up for your lengthening mascara.
2.) Maybelline Full ‘N Soft ~$6-$7
This is a decent volumizing formula. Like the packaging states, it does produce a soft feel on your lashes, versus the crispy feel you get from other mascaras. It’s a very natural look, not as dramatic as CoverGirl LashBlast. I’m enjoying this mascara right now, but I do miss the noticeable difference from the LashBlast. No flaking, and feels nourishing. I do recommend this mascara.

I’ve had quite the battle searching for the best concealer/foundation routine for my pale, or should I say, fair skin. I used to just rock bare minerals. But I’ve always been bouncing around with different concealers. My go-to tinted moisturizer was and continues to be Laura Mercier. I prefer the oil-free version.
Holy crap it’s $42! I know. But it will last you months and keep your skin awesome.
I’ve been without my go-to powder because I was trying to find a cheaper version. Impossible. I still set my liquid products using Bare Minerals, the original.
$26. Lasts a long time. You can save by finding rare Ulta coupons, or getting a rewards card with Bare Minerals Boutiques.
Unexpectedly I found myself using liquid foundation daily, after wearing it to a friend’s wedding. I’ve had it since October. It’s quick, easy, and looks super natural because they have great tones for fair skin. None other than Make Up For Ever HD Foundation.
$40. Product goes a long way. Seriously, I know these are investments but it’s cheaper than buying that $10 drugstore brand that you have to replace every 45-60 days.
Here’s the special guy in the bunch. This is by far the best concealer I’ve used in a long time. I’m super picky when it comes to concealer. This is extremely convenient, a great shade, and a great price. Urban Decay Concealer Pencil
$18. Easy to use. Extremely blend-able.
What is your foundation/concealer routine?
